| Introduction | This is the story of my journey through the mazes of madness (mental illness) both in my family of origin and in myself. I grew up in the Mississippi Delta the daughter of an undiagnosed manic depressive, alcoholic, and professional gambler. I became diagnosed myself with the disease at the age of 19. I will share here snippets from my childhood and my journey to date as an adult. This is the story of my recovery to health and well-being. I hope to offer to you experience, strength, and hope of what can be a devastating, deadly diagnosis. |
