| Introduction | I hail from a town known as the northernmost point of the Caribbean: New Orleans. Growing up there has shaped my worldview, so have living and traveling throughout Africa and Europe. Formal training at Johns Hopkins SAIS and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences offered me a firm foundation for formulating global heath and development policy. Fellowships at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the World Health Organization helped me to understand the United Nations view of addressing global health and poverty and working as the Project Manager for Africa at the Department of Labor provided me with insights into the U.S. approach. In my current line of work, non-governmental organizations and private sector groups consistently engage with me to share their ideas for resolving global health and poverty issues. I am a consensus builder who is eager to accelerate the growing trend of public-private partnerships and other alliances being developed to address poverty and poor health. This blog aims to contribute towards that movement by providing a forum for sharing creative solutions and encouraging collaborative approaches to achieving them. |
