| Introduction | Shaniqwa Jarvis is a photographer from New York City specializing in authentic, representational portraiture that is both vivid and real. Inspired by the work of Carrie Mae Weems, Bruce Davidson and Richard Avedon, Jarvis is driven by capturing the fleeting nuances and honest human outtakes that make each person compelling, ultimately rendering even the biggest star a familiar friend. She is heavily immersed in the culture from which she draws her subjects, making her connection through the lens even stronger and more involved.
