Introduction Born and raised in Gloucester, I now live and work as a letter carver across the border in West Oxfordshire. My journey in stone began in 2013 with a three-year Diploma in Stonemasonry at The City of Bath College. This was followed by a place on The Prince's Foundation's prestigious Building Craft Apprenticeship Programme from 2016 to 2017 where I worked at York Minster, Lincoln Cathedral, Worcester Cathedral, Muncaster Castle and was part of a three-month build at Prince Charles' Dumfries House estate in East Ayrshire, Scotland. I then did a traditional four-year letter carving apprenticeship with master letter carver Fergus Wessel at his Stoneletters Studio from 2017 to 2021. I've spent a further two years there as his assistant and continue to work alongside him. My love of poetry was the driving force behind my training as a letter carver. Carving poetry in stone and slate - as someone who reads and writes it – is such a tremendous honour. I continue to write poetry and short stories alongside my letter carving career and have every intention that they intertwine going forwards!
