About me

IntroductionGreat Aunt Hepzibah is fictional. I did have a great-aunt, who disliked her given name of Gladys so much that she said she would prefer to be called almost anything else and was known by various other names throughout her life. I called her Great Aunt Hepzibah, on no better grounds than 'Hepzibah' sounded like the sort of name a Great-Aunt ought to have. She called me 'Lizzie Dripping', on the grounds that I was 'too imaginative' and inclined to daydream when I should be doing something else. Her advice on the most common childhood and teenage problems of being bored or unrequited love were most usually to 'Go outside and get some fresh air' or 'Find something useful to do,' the follow up to this being that something useful to do could always be found for you, if you couldn't think of anything. Reading a book did not count as useful, just in case you were wondering. Great Aunt Hepzibah, as represented here, is an extremely opinionated lady. Her musings, advice, opinions and occasional rants will appear here at irregular intervals, as and when the mood takes her.
