Introduction | After many years spent in London, Bath, Birmingham, and Paris, I have found my way back to Berlin - like so many Ex-Berliners. The constant change this city undergoes never ceases to amaze me, especially coming from Paris which, by comparison, seems static in spite of its breathtaking beauty, a beauty a place like Berlin will never have, not least because of its history. What it does have, though, is an abundance of green spaces, and these - along with Berlin's (often controversial) architecture and its cultural and ethnic diversity, most of which is lost to the casual visitor - are what The Berlin Flaneur is all about. In other words, I'm a sort of modern-day flaneur, exploring the city accompanied by my constant companion, my Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Lucas. My second blog, FILM-TALK, is dormant for now, as my interests have shifted, but what you'll find there is a mixed bag of random observations and thoughts on the films I watch and revisit and the (film-) books I read ( ... and re-read). Unless stated otherwise, all contributions to both blogs are my own. |
