| Introduction | I have been married to Karen for 47 of my 73 years. I have two sons, Mike and Matt, both adults (at least in chronological age), and three grandchildren. I am retired, I suppose. I continue to teach college history, part-time; I still enjoy it, although the increasing amount of silly paperwork is grating and will likely be what drives me to fully retire. I have a BA in history from Amherst College and three graduate degrees. I do a little writing, too, some of which actually brings in some money. |
| Interests | Grandkids Michael (Bopper), Ashley (My Honey), Cody (My Big Guy) running and exercise, reading, writing, and our 085-pound Golden Retriever puppy, Andy. |
| Favorite movies | I generally don't do movies. |
| Favorite music | I'm pretty eclectic. I love the Motown Sound and '60s soul, but listen to other oldies, too. I'm not much on the "gangsta rap," hip hop, or heavy metal. Most often, in the car, I don't turn on the radio and simply drive with my thoughts. I was very disappointed to discover CD players are no longer put in cars. |
| Favorite books | There are far too many that have influenced me, caused me to think or change my life, to name. Some of my favorite authors are (History) Joe Ellis and David McCulloch, (Spy and Suspense, escapism!) the late Vince Flynn, Tess Gerritsen, David Baldacci, Lee Child, Brad Thor, Ben Coes, Robert Crais, Brad Taylor, Dan Brown, and Harlan Coben. A recent find has been Daniel Silva and his Gabriel Allon series--terrific! I also can't get enough biogs of Abraham Lincoln (about 50 of them now). I still like one of the first ones I read, With Malice Toward None, by Stephan B. Oates. |
