| Introduction | All I ever wanted was to teach Shakespeare and Orwell, inspire kids to love reading and grade some essays. I didn’t know I would be engaged in a daily psychological battle of wills. It’s not that all of the teaching experience is so horrible. It can be a lot of fun, and inspiring, and sometimes even rewarding. But the amount of bullshit far outweighs the good stuff, or even just the normal stuff. You just can’t believe what it’s like, and as you read these experiences you probably won’t believe it. But I promise you, it is all real. And it isn’t too out of the ordinary either. |
