| Introduction | Born in England, grew up in Canada, I have lived in Italy for more than half of my life, in Liguria and Tuscany. In September 2015 I set off to walk between the two and the rest of the way to Rome along the Via Francigena. In October 2016 I set off on foot again in the opposite direction, towards Santiago de Compostela. I walked as far as the border with France, then in October 2017 I continued as far as Montpellier. In April 2018 I took up the trail in Montpellier and walked to Toulouse, and in 2019 I covered the second half of the total distance between my home in Italy and Santiago de Compostela, then Finisterre! In September 2019 I was back on the Camino de Santiago, starting in Porto. In 2020 I set off from Chiavari to walk to Assisi, stopping in Florence; in June 2021 I continued along Saint Francis' Way from Florence to Assisi, and in September/October I walked from Rome to Santa Maria di Leuca on the Via Francigena of the South. In May-June 2022 I set off from the city where I was born, Leeds, England, and walked to Dover. In 2023 I resumed my walk from Calais, heading south and homewards across France, Switzerland and Italy! |
