Introduction I'm a stay-at-home mom to 6 children. My oldest is 8 yrs old, and my youngest was born September 21, 2008. My oldest 2 sons, Jacob and Joshua, were diagnosed with autism within a year of each other. We've all kinds of therapies/interventions, and came to 2 conclusions: 1) we're not going to be one of those Good Morning America features, where the kid is totally 'healed' from autism by some sort of treatment intervention, and 2) those interventions cost A LOT! (and our insurance company is evil). I was pregnant with my 3rd child when Jacob & Joshua were being diagnosed - so at least I have some kind of 'excuse' for having another. Baby Rachael was born in 2003. But to go on and have Abigail in 2005, then Daniel in 2006, THEN Caleb in 2008? Some people think it's downright obscene, I think it's a blessing. And no, I don't think all blessings are easy, are fun, are feel-good. Some are hard as h*&% to face on a daily basis. But if that 'blessing' makes you a better person at the end of the day, the year, or your life, then it's a blessing.
