| Introduction | In April of 2012, I began relief teaching at EtonHouse International School, in Singapore! (The school where my oldest daughter, PE, attends!) I began relief teaching to earn extra spending money for my upcoming trip to China!! One day the administrator came to me and offered me a job......TEACHING ART! Not READING, not MATH, not WRITING, not SCIENCE, not SOCIAL STUDIES......but ART!! I was excited and overwhelmed. WHY????!!!! I had never taught JUST ART. How do you begin to teach art? What do you tell the children? What do I teach other than painting and cutting paper? What a challenge I was about to undertake...... A dear friend had recently told me, "Good teaching is good teaching. If you are a good teacher, you can TEACH ANYTHING!! You have the skills and the experience, and you understand best teaching practices." "Ok", I thought......maybe I CAN DO THIS! I decided I would engage in this challenge and it would definately be a HANDS ON LEARNING EXPERIENCE!! I was just a little scared...... |
| Interests | I LOVE teaching! It does not matter what I teach~~I love it! After being an elementary classroom teacher for 20 years, I took some time off and moved with my hubby and two little girls to the Far East, to Singapore! Being a stay at home mom for 3 1/2 years was great! Now I have decided to get out of my comfort zone of the daily play dates with little ones, and go back to work! |
