| Introduction | I am a Senior School teacher in Darwin, Aus, working with students from around 50 different remote communities in the Northern Territory. My role is to teach Literacy and co-teach Work Ready skills for students who are looking for alternate ways to get their NTCET as well as the skills for their desired futures. Along with Fair Trade and social justice, I believe in a justice in education - for those who may be marginalised either by their literacy, culture or future prospects. I believe in restoring hope to Indigenous students simply by hearing and supporting their story. This has been my journey - and it has birthed a model for Indigenous education which has changed lives! 'Closing the Circle' focuses on the students as individuals and challenged our roles as teachers so that they may get closer to the real and best possible future dierection for their lives. Instead of simply teaching content and assessing for success we become learners with the kids.
