Introduction A political scientist and academic based in Taipei, Taiwan, currently serving as the Vice President of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, a democracy assistance foundation devoted to strengthening democracy in Taiwan and abroad. I received my PhD in political science from the University of Oklahoma (OU) and the two Masters degrees from OU's College of International Studies and Department of Political Science. I am also a regular commentator on international media outlets. My latest work on Taiwan’s social movement was published in Taiwan’s Social Movements under Ma Ying-jeou: From the Wild Strawberries to the Sunflowers (Rouledge, 2017) and Cities Unsilenced: Urban Resistance and Public Space in the Age of Shrinking Democracy (Rouledge, 2017).
