Introduction As a jewelry designer I am inspired to create beautiful things from what others may have tossed aside as junk. I love the details in vintage items and my vast collections of items used for designing jewelry are surely a reflection of that. I've been a collector even as a young child and believe that this was an inherited trait from my Maternal Grandmother. However, my desire to dig in piles of junk was learned early at the knees of my Mom through tag sales. Found objects are often used in my designs, as well as vintage buttons, broken junk jewelry pieces, cracker jack charms, coins, tokens, skeleton keys, shells, scrabble tiles, beach glass, beach glass or rocks, dice, key holes, vintage crystals and prisms, belt buckles and many other found objects which I turn over in my hands and head until a design comes together. A creative mind rarely rests, and thus the story of my life. I also enjoy recreating decorative home decor objects from cast aside treasures as well, so will feature some of these on my blog too. I am an avid slalom water skier, flower gardener, motorcycle driver, a wife and a mom to one precious daughter, Emily. Contact me at: gretchen.schaumann@comcast.net
