| Introduction | Being a freethinking schoolboy without religious ties Terence greatly respected and admired the discoveries of the scientists, so by age 14 at Trowbridge Boys High School he was determined to be a scientist or archaeologist. At 17 he won a place in physics to Oxford University. MA and D Phil degrees Oxford University in physics and (later) MSc in archaeology. Doctoral research funded by A.E.R.E., Harwell, 1957 to 1961. Posts at universities of Oxford, Grenoble (France) and Dalhousie (Canada) where Associate Professor of Physics. Founder of the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TORRO) in Britain 1974. Editor of The Journal of Meteorology 1975 to 2002. Hundreds of papers in physics and meteorology (G.T. Meaden). Devised the International T-Scale of tornado intensities in 1972 (based on the theoretical version of the Beaufort Windspeed Scale). Studies in archaeology began in 1983. Later an MSc degree at Oxford University in Landscape Archaeology. Summer-school lecturer in Sardinia each July 2007 to 2011 on European Prehistory. Founder in 2008 of the Atheist Nexus major discussion group "Origins: Universe, Life, Humankind and Darwin". |
