| Introduction | When I was first living on my own I got a copy of the fabulous Fannie Farmer Cookbook. I made pancakes from scratch, immediately felt superior to the rest of the world, and viewed pancake mixes with disdain and confusion. Thankfully, the superiority complex has subsided for the most part. What has sustained in my life since that time is a full and silly joy in making things. I have found growing and making food saves some valuable pennies, provides healthier food options, and is a lighter way to live on the earth. I also get to make a lot of messes. All good things. When not being frugal and fanciful, I teach yoga classes in South Portland, Maine, work alongside my sweetie on our new-to-us house, and take lots of walks with our funny snaggle-toothed pup, Emmett. As you can tell from my pic, sometimes my lady and I very seriously pick apples. |
