Introduction The purpose of this blog is to document the thoughts and mechanical processes that were used to convert a 1992 BMW 325i into 100% electric drive. The blog's format is that of a detailed laboratory notebook, and when I have a question about a previous supplier or measurement, I refer directly to the blog for the answer. Prior to 2012 my automotive experience was limited to simple repairs. Interest in electric cars developed when at work we began manufacturing additives for automotive Lithium ion batteries. This exposed me to what is so clearly an essential part of the future of the United States, and that is electric drive personal mobility. As with all projects, time, space, and funding, always remain in tight supply. Fortunately those limitations continue to be overcome as this conversion evolves and the car's performance and capabilities grow. Hopefully others will be able to duplicate what was done here and feel more confident that they can be successful in building their own electric car. It must be remembered that at this scale, one is beyond a simple science project, and an automobile that can seat four people and reach 90 mph is what is being built.
