Introduction I used to like reading and writing. My dad used to take me to the library weekly, he then noted i read too much fiction and not enough "studying" so like a typical South Asian dad said "do you're studies instead of being a bookworm". Ironic coz over the years he's been collecting books on every conceivable topic (mostly typical old fashioned academic books). Anyway the library at home mushroomed out of control to the point the upstairs landing is full and in no particular order (apart from neat stacks of largest to smallest books). This compulsive hoarding expanded onto anything going cheap at shops and carboot sales, even typewriters and other pieces of redundant technologies-floppy disks anyone? So now our home resembles a jumblesale/museum. This has cost him money and our breathing space. He's in denial, has an emotional (irrational) attachment to them and won't get rid of them even though 99% are never read.I am going to share my experience of living with the junk The sad part of this is it is driving his family away from him and has taken over his life.
