| Introduction | I would do nothing else but pick flowers and wander dreamily through meadows and gardens gathering all those beautiful and wondrous things my eyes might see. And then it happened. After the first gleaming jewel was plucked my curiosity grew and grew until I would know the variety of them all. And while at first my searching was limited only by my imagination I came soon to the place where I would know the number of petals, the number of facets, the frequency of the vibrations which made up the colours in each new burst of rainbow breeze. But I could not study all the flowers or all the jewels in the grass and became saddened. Until I saw that the more I penetrated the Particular, the more I descended to the depths, the more I sought the General the more I sank deeper into solitude. So, in order to study the infinity of the flowers around me I began to study, with the greatest of care a specially chosen single one of them.And soon I found that all the worlds I would ever want were there, in that pollen, in those stamens, those pistils and in that infinity of yearning dreams that became the flower, the jewel that is me....... |
