| Introduction | I came to the DR in the fall of 2007 for a four month long semester abroad trip. It was during that trip that God had introduced me to the shoe shiners and had begun putting a passion in my heart for these boys. It was during that trip that I felt that God was telling me that one day I would be working with these guys. I returned back to my home town in Indiana to finish my studies at Bethel College, and two months after graduation, God has brought me back to work with these guys by sharing with them the love of Christ, work on character development and leaderships skills, and also provide these guys with a quality education through the ministry: Colegio Timoteo from the local church: Fraternidad Cristiana Amor a Quisqueya. It has been such a blessing and a privilege to see what God is doing here in Jarabacoa in the lives of these amazing boys. They will no longer be called Shoe Shiners, but Disciples of Jesus Christ. |
