| Introduction | I am an unfortunate idealist. I maintain perpetual hope coupled with a fatalist view of human nature. I teach psychology and history and how to be better people to an enjoyable AND motley crew in a remote town in the Old South. I love Jesus and usually rail against the actions of His church. I like to help the poor and the disenfranchised and I want to expand my base in that endeavor. I have a wife and kids and they are fantastic. I am building a new house and find that process very not smooth. But I have found lots of things are not smooth and it is in the rough that we can do our best work. I never want to do it alone and I am thankful there are many engaged in the cause. I want to be a part of the solution. |
| Interests | Sharing the Gospel, ending the modern slave trade, removing war as an option, feeding the hungry, healing the sick, reading history and watching Hogan's Heroes reruns |
| Favorite movies | It depends on the stage of life, but Braveheart, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Remember the Titans will always be in the hunt. Love the quotability of Dumb and Dumber and Tombstone. The Princess Bride is good in that regard as well. Though not a movie, I cannot heap enough praise on the BBC Robin Hood series that ended a couple of years ago. And why the heck did no one pick up Jericho when CBS dropped that ball? |
| Favorite music | Anything folksy, plus old Public Enemy and Guns n Roses (saw those two in concert together once at the peak of their power. Very surreal.) Also Lightfoot, Springsteen, U2, Cash, and Metallica are all good fun. Recently started digging on the Piano Guys, which led me to figure out I love to hear people play both the cello and the piano. Would never have guessed that about myself. |
| Favorite books | Making Room for Life by Randy Frazee, Tolkien's LOTR and The Silmarillion, Amazing Grace by Eric Metaxas, Jim and Casper Go to Church, To Kill a Mockingbird (aside from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the most influential book in my life) |
