| Introduction | I worked for 10 years as a systems integrator, technical sales manager, and strategic marketing director in the document and knowledge management industries. My professional experience at reseller-integrators, software developers, and service bureaus balanced technical consulting and systems analysis with sales, marketing, and management. Since entering academia my focus has been on creativity and innovation, especially the generation and evaluation of ideas (ideation processes) and the role of expertise and status in the knowledge recombination process. My perspective considers both push and pull forms of knowledge collaboration and the combination of contextual knowledge (i.e. problems) with general knowledge (i.e. solutions or ideas). Methodologically, I balance an ability to qualitatively explore a phenomenon via interviews with a very strong quantitative skill in textual analysis, taxonomical methods, social network analysis, structural equation modeling, and hierarchical linear modeling. |
