| Introduction | Calvin McMillin is a writer, teacher, and scholar. Born in Singapore and raised in rural Oklahoma, he went on to earn bachelors' degrees in English and secondary education from Oklahoma State University. After teaching junior high for a year, he obtained a master's degree in English from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and a doctorate in literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. For nine years, McMillin worked as a film critic for LoveHKFilm.com, a Hong Kong cinema Web site. More recently, he has taught at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor. |
