| Introduction | I came to become a psychologist in an unusual way. I received my bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University, majoring in mathematics and philosophy. I then completed my masters degree in Statistics at the University of California at Berkeley. I began working in this field and realized this was quite a mistake on my part. I felt called into Psychology, and took some undergraduate courses in Psychology to make sure it was a good idea. I then completed my masters and then doctoral degree at the University of British Columbia, and have been a psychologist since 1998. Most of my work has been with parents and children, with specific interests in assessment, anxiety, and autism. Currently, I work in a private practice (www.nexuspsychology.ca) in Sherwood Park, Alberta (a suburb of Edmonton), and also consult for a nearby school board, giving me the chance to see students not only in my office, but actual in a natural everyday setting. I feel blessed to be have these opportunities to help others, and I hope my gratitude for the chance to do this shines through my work every day! |
