| Introduction | "My themes will not be far-fetched. I will tell of everyday phenomenon and adventures" Hi, I'm Moushumi and welcome to Rainbows and Cloudbursts. Once upon a time, in another life, I used to be an advertising and market research professional. Today as a mother of hyperactive twin boys who could put the Energiser bunny to shame, I find every single day, a roller coaster ride. Hence the name - Rainbows and Cloudbursts - a journey spattered with tears, laughter, howls, sleep deprivation, smiles, exhaustion, vomit, spit and drool!! When I am not playing entertainer, clown, all purpose lackey, chief maid-in-waiting and the forever rejected cook to my twins, I write and blog. And I shoot photographs of random flowers no one wants to see. I love to read but from finishing off a book every 2-3 days, I have now reduced my expectations to 1 to 2 great reads a month. I love indulging myself - travel, food, wine, antiques, movies; the more sinful and expensive it is, the more likely I am to crave for it! And yes, I have recently transitioned from being a virtual gardener on Farmville to a real one and am enjoying every bit of it! |
| Interests | Love photography, travel, reading, wine, food, antiques. |
| Favorite movies | The Great Dictator, Children of Heaven, BBC's adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. My favourite action movies - Kill Bill - there is something so cathartic about the bloodbath and the action is sheer poetry at times, kungfu movies like The Hero, The House of Flying Daggers. Enjoy old comedies like Golmaal, Half Ticket, Angoor, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, It Happened One Night, Come September, Roman Holiday.. Also enjoy mindless horror movies once in a while esp the "classics" made by the Ramsay brothers. |
| Favorite books | My all time favourite book would unquestionably have to be To Kill a Mocking Bird - have read it 30 odd times and its still good for countless more!! Other favourites would be Midnight's Children, The Lord of the Rings, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, My Name is Red, The Prophet, Gitanjali, The Kite Runner (no, it didn't make me cry but I am came close!), Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles & William Dalrymple's The Age of Kali. Other than that I absolutely adore P.G. Wodehouse; and I collect Hercule Poirot & Miss Marple mysteries, curl up in bed when depressed with Enid Blytons and love the one and only hot Bengali (probably the only time it isn't an oxymoron) detective Feluda! Am also a closet comic lover and often reread my Asterix, Tintin, Phantom, Amar chitra Katha comics. Currently on the hunt for the Mandrake series! |
