| Introduction | It was May of 2011 as I was about to embark on a journey of a life-time: marriage, when my Aunt Mary Anne said to me, "You have to move to grow!" Of course I was moving, out of an old name & into a new one, from life on a whim with girlfriends to this "one-flesh" idea that was going to take everything I had to give, but also across the country, with a man I had only spent weekends & holidays with for the past year & a half. I had traveled many times before but my roots were in Joplin, Missouri. It was my "home, sweet, home" at the end of a trip for the last 22 years. Sometimes change happens gradually & you wake up one morning aware, for the first time, of a new subtlety your life has acquired, & other times you may barely catch the transition quick enough to give it a full look in the face before the familiar is in the past tense. After one whirlwind (no pun intended) of a weekend, with my college degree in one hand & marriage certificate in the other, my dashing new husband and I hit I-40 & ended up in Flagstaff Arizona, where we have now called home for over a year. This blog is about new beginnings & mishaps along the way. After all, you have to Move to Grow. |
