| Introduction | Welcome to Peacocks & Rainbows! This blog is dedicated to globally inspired art, the concept of globalization, and how it can be introduced in the art room. I grew up a very artistic child on the plains of Kansas. I majored in Fashion Design at Kansas State University winning numerous design awards, including the Golden Scissors Award, competing against students from U.S. and the prestigious FIT in New York. That win brought me to Dallas to work as for well-known women’s clothing company, but first I spent the summer at the Paris Fashion Institute in France. I was drawn to teaching and have spent the last 20 years teaching art and other subjects. My life looks much like the collages we make in the art room! I’ve traveled all over the world and taught in Uganda and Ecuador. I recently obtained my Masters of Art Education Degree from Boston University and attended summer school in Italy. The art room is the perfect place to introduce students to the globe, not just it's history and geography, but it's reality. Enjoy this blog! Its purpose is to bring the world to the art room, artist, or teacher. –Trina Harlow Art Teacher |
