Introduction I am a cradle Catholic married to a recent convert. I prayed for my husband’s conversion for twelve years. Our daughters accomplished his conversion by praying for six months. I began to write as I struggled through a series of health issues. Every problem eventually resolved, but each involved a significant waiting period while potentially negative outcomes hung in the balance. During that time I repeatedly asked others this question: “How could I be happy in Heaven if I have to leave my loved ones behind in a world where suffering is unavoidable?” The most satisfying answer I received is that time in Heaven is not limited in the same way that we experience it here on earth. In other words, I would see them again before I would even realize that time had passed—probably because I’d be so pleasantly distracted by all the singing. Through these struggles, I learned to trust in God’s will for my family. I now understand that God always brings good out of bad. I love my life as a wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend. I now strive to live with gratitude—in joyful hope.
