Introduction	JANE AMACHI was born and brought up in the north-west of England near Liverpool. To escape the damp climate, she started her lively career by spending a year in Spain and Italy as an elephant rider in Circo Americano. She often says it was the best job she ever had. Then she made a complete career change and moved to Paris where she worked for IBM for 10 years. Next she moved to Toulouse, in the south-west of France, where she used her business degree to form a training company that she managed for 7 years. She then became an English lecturer at two of the major engineering schools in Toulouse, and is now a freelance French/English translator and writer. She lives in the Lauragais countryside near Toulouse with her American husband, Ray, and their large, hairy sheepdog, Teddy. The Argentine tango is her passion, as well as regular travels to Spain and Argentina.
