| Introduction | First of all, I run Race for the Cures. The distance is 5 kilometers, thus the name, Bev5k. Saturday, May 17, was my 109th race. More info? I am a 44-year-old, 9-year, two-time, advanced stage breast cancer survivor who is about tired of the disease. I want to take my ball and go home. I don't want to play anymore. But I am forced to stay in the game. It's life or death. But I don't have to like it and desperately need a sounding board to help me through this new phase of cancer. I have a husband, two kids, Allie, 16 and Bryan, 13. The family dog, Angel and two cats, Pumpkin and Patch, keep me busy as well. My mantra is, "What can I do next?". This is my answer. Bitch bout breast cancer. I have found my soap box and I am going to holler. Join me! We'll get hot under the collar together, laugh at the ridiculousness of our health care system, cry at the hopelessness of it, and hopefully, make some noise so that we can be heard. It'll be the shot heard around the world: WHAT GOOD IS YOUR CURE IF I CAN'T AFFORD IT??? |
