Introduction	I live near the Atlantic Ocean with my husband, two teenage boys and tween daughter. We share our space with three cats, two ADHD kittens and one terribly, terribly mannered dog. We have one of those informal houses with messy gardens, baskets of art supplies and piles of folded laundry on the sofas. My first novel, "The Shape of Water," was released in 2008; my second, "Light Beneath Ferns," was released in February, 2010, both from Flux. From the reviews and emails I have received, neither novel is conventional. I am working on middle grade novels right now, two at once. When I hear about a home for the first one, I'll announce it here. I write strange books because normal doesn't interest me. And, with my life, that's a good thing.
Interests	Kids, books, writing, cooking,gardening,friends, music
Favorite movies	Jane Eyre. (If you want to torture me, force me to watch any "romantic comedy" - a genre which is neither). I actually don't like movies; they seem like lazy books.
Favorite music	U-2, The Beatles, John Lennon, Eric Clapton,Nirvana, Pink Floyd
Favorite books	Jane Eyre, My Left Foot, To Kill A Mockingbird,The Chronicles of Narnia, Almost all MG and YA (really),anything by Sylvia Plath or Anne Sexton.
