Gender Female
Location Maine, United States
Introduction I'm the product of two very creative, former hippie parents who left Ohio in a VW bus in 1974 to settle in downeast Maine. A divorce, a revelation, many moves, homelessness and many homes and schools followed. Eventually, I ended up at UMaine in Orono. Alex is the product of a long line of self-reliant Mainers. His parents, of an earlier generation than my own, raised him on the Bradstreet homestead on the mid-coast. Academically accelerated, he attended a private school, was awarded the Eagle Scout honor and he hiked much of Maine's wilderness. He also landed at UMaine, where we met our second year of college. Alex and I have been together since 1990, marrying June 25, 1994. Two amazing kids, a daughter, 18 and a son, 15, who have been unschooled since birth. We lived 12 years near seven miles of Maine beach, and still have a 120+ year old home that we have refurbished and a compact organic garden containing over twenty-five trees on just .11 of an acre. We have lived on our 125-acre farm on a pond in central Maine, that has been in Alex's family since the late 18th century.

What's the most amount of sand you've ever had in your swimming trunks?

I've had so much sand in my swimsuit before that I was left with no choice but to swim out to sea and strip it off and watch it float away.
