| Introduction | Not much to say. I had a lousy childhood, followed by too much LSD and a profusion of other drugs, leading to a criminal career that landed me in prison three times by the time I was 23--the last time, for life. One "life" ended when I went to prison, another ended when I got out, and the current one began twenty years ago. |
| Interests | Art, music, teaching, writing, counseling, program development, yoga, Chinese martial arts, cultivating and employing moral courage in difficult situations. |
| Favorite movies | Too many to list, though I tend to favor the ones I've assigned in classes and had the luxury of further informing myself about to the tune of a few thousand student essays. |
| Favorite music | Lots of blues, jazz, and zydeco these days, but an unflagging fondness for 50s-80s R&B and funk informs it all. But in general, I like whatever happens to move me at the moment--I don't really do favorites. |
| Favorite books | Again, I don't do "favorites," or "bests," or absolutes of any other sort. Adults who refer to their "best friend" or "favorite girlfriend/boyfriend" make me want to vomit, because they implicitly spit in the faces of everyone else who they matter to when they utter such childish, two-dimensional nonsense. Suffice it to say that I've read, minutely, more books than 99% of people who will ever read this, and that if you want to know what interests me at a given point in time, you have to talk with me. |
