| Introduction | PhD candidate at the CFPR center, UWE. Practice-led research, 4D Weaving My previous work has involved designing and making woven materials in collaboration with other designers, engineers and architects. I developed work to be woven on a digital loom, which gave me scope to create fabric with more complicated woven structures on a larger scale. However, I did still use a handloom when I needed to weave with specialised materials that don’t cooperate with the industrial looms. I also like to experiment with technology outside the limits of a traditional loom. There is so much potential to innovate if you work alongside technology. It’s exciting. I love explaining to people how woven materials can work alongside industries like biomedicine (woven heart valves) and architecture as well as fashion and interiors.
