About me

Introduction	Who am I? I am a scientist and the wife of a scientist. Thus, a native skeptic, yet one who has been dragged into intimate awareness of dietary sensitivities, by having a child who is highly sensitive to gluten. Therefore--a mom who wants to take good care of her gluten-free child and raise her to be happy and at ease in the world. And again: a cell biologist interested in the basis for conditions such as celiac disease and other digestive disorders, though it is not my primary area of research. And finally, someone who would like to offer an tour of this land of Glutenfri, in all its myriad and complex aspects, that illuminate topics as wide-ranging as immunology, our personal microbiome and the importance of endosymbionts, cooking from scratch, living in the social world with dietary restrictions, the delights and hazards of urban gardening, why our bodies are like donuts, and whatever else may come to mind tomorrow.
