| Introduction | We passionately believe textbooks do not make a leader; exposure to books and creative experiences does. Our focus is to promote the reading habit from womb to adulthood and to make K.K.Nagar, Chennai, a happening place for children. We organise: *Learning Workshop Series: Creative Reading, Writing, Thinking, Problem Solving, Dramatics and lots more. *Close Encounters with Achievers: Kids interact with achievers in different fields. Binita Sashi, after pre-school teacher’s training, obtained a BEd degree. She served PSBB School for 15 years and in 2006, started Spring into Reading, an after-school activity centre where children are exposed to a series of activities that will eventually get each child to say “I love reading!” Binita is a special educator certified by the Madras Dyslexia Association. Gargi Advaithi has a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Kansas. After 14 years in the U.S., working on inclusive strength-based programmes for children, Gargi returned to Chennai in 2008 and founded Zoom Kids, a playschool and activity-centre in K.K.Nagar designed to stimulate the child’s curious mind. |
