| Introduction | So, when I was 19 I was hit square-in-the-eye by the cork of a faulty, over-pressurized champagne bottle and suffered a choroidal rupture and a nasty contusion to my left eye. I was blinded temporarily for a couple of weeks, and suffered severe migranes for a couple of years after the vision returned. That was my first experience with wearing an eye-patch. Recently I underwent surgery to repair a traumatic cataract which formed from the initial blow to my eye, and I was back to wearing an eye patch again. Not to be discouraged -- nor outdone -- I decided to make the best of the situation, and designed some cool eye-patches that I was willing to wear myself. While I wasn't initially wild about wearing an eye-patch, it actually felt a lot better for my injured eye to wear one. It's not really fun wearing an eye-patch. The largest draw-backs of wearing one (for me) are: A) loss of depth-perception, B) motion-sickness, C) loss of peripheral vision, and D) people staring. Since I knew I needed to wear one, I decided to design ones that I enjoy wearing. |
