| Introduction | I've been working in the energy- environmental-climate policy field for 12 years now, after earning a Master's in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (their new sleeker name!) in 1996. Prior to/concurrent with that, I had a combined 21-year active duty & Reserve career in the U.S. Coast Guard that was "bookended" by deployments to the scene of the Exxon Valdez oil spill (April, 1989) and New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina (October, 2005). In 2003 I ran for and won my first of now 3 terms on the Portsmouth City Council - after successfully waging a campaign to have the City's new public Library designed and built to "green building" (LEED) standards. I have 3 children, ages 9, 7, and 2. Getting my city, my state, and my country to begin taking responsibility for our environmental footprint, tackling global warming, and evolving our fossil-fuel and consumption-based economy toward long-term sustainability - QUICKLY - is the 2nd most important purpose in my life. I hope this blog will help advance it... |
