| Introduction | Through my work I continue to be intrigued and driven to explore the ‘in between’ states of communication, in particular, the auditory space that exists between vocalising, transmitting and receiving sound. I enjoy the language of this in-between state and the ephemeral visualisations that lend themselves so beautifully to it; the energy of the voice carried through vibrations of breath, seeping out of the mouth, disrupting and displacing the surrounding air; rhythms of tone, pitch and accent overlapping and intermingling, shaping the ever changing auditory space around us. This visual depiction of sound has been paramount to my practice and I believe this will continue to be a key line of enquiry throughout my artistic career. I am interested in the linear sequence, repetition and movement of a sound line and continue to explore this through drawing, stitch, fabric print and digital photography. |
