IntroductionI am a writer, who began studying French daily since June, 2010. By chance, I traveled to France the summer of 1984 while working on my M.B.A. degree. I learned to enjoy France's people, food, and culture as I studied European Business and Law at L'Université de Lyon III. I hope to tell sometimes amusing and sometimes poignant stories about learning to understand French language and culture. My upcoming book,"Detour through France", entwines my personal story with my uncle's story as told by his letters (1943-1944). The book follows him as he is inducted into the Army and trains for the Allied invasion of Normandy.
InterestsI am in a hurry to learn French. I am 60 plus years old and have no time to waste! I began studying French at the Alliance Française Minneapolis by taking 20 weeks of intensive French classes. I also studied in Paris for 3 weeks early in 2011. I have plans for more studies and travels in France and French speaking regions. (I have also studied German through high school, university, and a few Berlitz classes in Munich. I should not omit I have had a year of Latin and a "smidge" of Spanish.) My previous business career began with my B.S. degree in Horticulture/Agriculture. I worked for a number of Fortune 500 companies in various capacities. During my work care, I primarily worked in agri-field production, sales, and distribution. My B.S and M.B.A.(concentration marketing) were earned at the University of Minnesota.
