Introduction	Freelance consultant, Adjunct Professor in the School of Business Studies and Humanities, Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Arusha, Tanzania, and Research Affiliate in the Institute for Global Sustainable Development (IGSD), University of Sheffield. Adviser to UK HEIs preparing for the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) and Main Panel C member for REF 2014. Formerly Senior Researcher in Oxfam GB, creator and editor of the online Oxfam Research Guidelines; Principal Scientist in the Natural Resources Institute in the Overseas Development Administration and then University of Greenwich. I've also been an Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Cambridge, and Research Fellow in the School of African and Asian Studies in the University of Sussex. I trained as a social anthropologist, hold an MA and PhD from the University of Cambridge, have lived in both Tanzania and Kenya, and am a Senior Member of Wolfson College as well as a member of Peterhouse in the University of Cambridge.
