Introduction ॐ TWO BLOGS: The blog 'MY OBLATIONS' is intended to discuss Advaith Vedanta. I would be posting my translations, from Sanskrit to English, of śaṅkara’s commentary. I would also be sharing my essays, notes on Advaith Vedanta and thereby engage in sacred enquiry. Second blog MYCHOICESTPIC is collections of photographs and their captions taken during my travels, in India and overseas.
Interests My name is Dr Vishal Dhingra. I am from Allahabad. I work in the pathology department, as associate professor, in MLN medical college. My interest in Advaith Vedanta goes back to two decades. I have studied Advaith Vedanta with my mentor during all these years. I respect the anonymity that my teacher likes to maintain so I'll refrain from disclosing his name. Suffice to say that he takes regular classes (सत्संग) on Advaith Vedanta and is well versed with the tradition of unfolding the scriptures. It’s difficult to find right words or any form of symbolic expression to convey my gratitude for him. By far, my mentor has been my most helpful guide but I have been immensely benefited by several other masters who words have been a strong influence. From Vedanta tradition Swami Akhndanand Saraswati, whose exhaustive commentaries, on nearly all major texts of religion and Indian philosophy are pearls of wisdom. Books by Satchitanandendra Saraswati, from Holenarsipur, are great treasure trove of wisdom and I consult them often to clear my doubts. Swami Dayanand saraswati books and his numerous Satsangs in ऋषिकेश and Coimbatore have helped to get clarity on the basic principles of Vedanta. Among saints who were not from pure Vedanta tradition but were saying things uncannily similar to the words of Upanishads are Ramana महर्षि, रामकृष्ण परमहंस and Sri Nisargdatta महाराज . All have been a source of inspiration and guidance. But the person that had changed the direction of my life is J Krishnamurti, for which I owe him, a lot. My other interests are संस्कृत and I been fortunate, by Lord's grace, to have teachers to guide me in the study of the language as well. Dr Ram Muni Pande, Prof of Sanskrit, has been my teacher for many years and I would like to express my deep gratitude for his guidance. I enjoy traveling, photography and Indian classical and jazz music.
