| Introduction | POETS ON FIRE is not about incinerating poets - much as we might secretly hope for that during some poetry readings - but a place to find news and discussion about poetry in performance across the UK. It's also intended to promote the idea that presenting your poetry to an audience is not simply a case of standing up and reading in a monotone from behind a book. Performing your work should be about bringing poetry to life, giving it a new and dynamic existence beyond the page; it's a dialogue between poet and audience, an exciting act of collaboration. That is true of all poetry, whether it's labelled performance, stand-up, mainstream, experimental or what have you.
