IntroductionWhen I was about eight years old, I saw the world, as it will be, full of happy people helping each other and having fun. Since then, I have been trying to help bring this about. I think everybody shares this vision somewhere and is doing their best to help. I was originally a research chemist with ICI. At a T-group, I decided to change my career and help people listen to each other. Eventually, I got a job in ICI as free agent to help people do this. Now, I am an independent facilitator of change and development. Three years ago I published all my articles, designs and developmental ideas on the web, www.nickheap.co.uk, for anyone to use. All the things I have learned are built on the work that others have done. In particular Chris Bull, for core process, Harvey Jackins for Re-evaluation Counselling and David Cooperrider for Appreciative Inquiry. I appreciate my clients for their trust and for all they have taught me.

Your pajamas have duckies on them. Why did you switch from choo-choos?

Duckies make me laugh.
