| Introduction | Years ago before Sigourney Weaver, I was born on the upside of Camelot. My mandatory public school indoctrination was spent watching three channels, reading original sci-fi masters and swallowing the state's blue pills. As a kid, I never knew what a bad tax base meant but looking back on old books, peeling paint and broken windows; I know why all schools should be palaces. But I was lucky because just as Punk was growing stale and New Wave was cresting; I found a red pill that shot me down a rabbit hole straight into a Runcible Spoon. Somewhere between then and now, I dumped generations of prejudice, discarded Marley's chains of medieval mind games and learned how to swim in strange waters. Today I roll left of center and keep a bicoastal eye because I want to believe. And failing everything else, I'll keep on looking to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes. |
