| Introduction | I grew up in Ann Arbor, MI and have been a Tigers fan my whole life. I remember listening to Ernie Harwell as a young boy with the Bird pitching. My fist game was in the mid to late 1970's and Rusty Staub hit a HR in the 10th inning. It was a walk-off HR before the term "walk-off" even existed. On the day of the 5th game of the World Series in 1984, I was 17 and was supposed to work at Wendy's. It was the only day I have ever blown off work. When Gibby hit his second HR (the famous one), it was a great feeling to know my team was the best...was world champions. In 2006, I attended game 3 versus the Yankees when Kenny Rogers shutdown the hated Yanks. I was supposed to go to game 3 versus the Athletics, but had to work. So, the next day, a friend of mine and I went up to the stadium for game 4 without tickets. We found some for around $120 each and got to see the most amazing sporting event of my life! |
