Introduction | I moved to Brugge in the spirit of adventure and rented a beautiful apartment in an idyllic area of central town. I had lived in another beautiful place near Canterbury and Ashford in Kent for 31 years until early 2015 where I was very involved in community affairs. In Brugge I gradually found friends and activities which enriched my life and gave me huge enjoyment. I had thought to end my days there but gradually, during 2021 as I climbed the upper slopes of ageing, I began to think of living nearer to my family in Britain. I listened to my feelings as they grew more insistent and in early February 2022, I came to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. One daughter and grand-daughter live here; another grand-daughter lives with her fiancee in Norfolk; my niece and her family are about thirty minutes away by car; three grandsons and their girls live in London, and Bury has a railway station! I think I am well-placed for the next interesting phase of life.. |
