| Introduction | Pippinu (diminutive of Pippu) is my name. "Pila" (plural of "pilu" ) is a sicilian word that means "hair", but which is used in a variety of idiomatic expressions to denote whinging or complaining, e.g. "attaccari pila" or "circari pila" - to look hard for pretexts or to whinge or to split hairs (literally pulling or looking for hair); "aviri certi pila" - to have extravagant tastes (literally to have certain hairs); "pila nn'havi quantu na scecca" - said of one who has never ending complaints (literally he has as much hair as a donkey) |
