| Introduction | Paul Ingrassia reads and writes short poetry and flash fiction from Westchester County, New York, where his loving wife and children exhibit superhuman amounts of patience with him when he spends hours on end with his nose buried in a computer or book. He is a Pushcart Prize nominated poet, loves the work of Adelaide Crapsey and Robert E. Howard, and is a fan of Heavy Metal, Punk, and other forms of extreme music. Over the past few years, his Muse has been slowly escorting him through dark places that need to be explored. Although at times it is terrifying, he has been enjoying the journey. Paul is also known as The Mystic Fool, which is his Pagan Spiritual name. He follows a personal, solitary, eclectic spiritual path that he has come to call 'The Tao of Isis'. He has been a member of the Fellowship of Isis since March 2003. In June 2006, the FOI Iseum of Ma'at and Thoth granted him membership as a Scribe of the House of Life in recognition of his writing contributions to the FOI. In January 2010, Paul founded his own FOI Iseum called The Iseum of the Tao of Isis. |
| Interests | My current general writing interests include cinquain poetry, free verse, prose poetry, and flash fiction. Many of the themes I am currently writing include an element of darkness, decadence, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, speculative, surreal, irreal, or mixed genre. I also write Pagan/Goddess spiritual poetry, prayers, rites, and articles, under the pseudonym 'The Mystic Fool'. |
| Favorite movies | The entire Star Wars Saga. All of the Lord Of The Rings movies (including the old Rankin-Bass and Bakshi cartoons). The Riddick Trilogy. Almost anything Fantasy, Horror, or Sci-Fi. The Hellraiser movies, the Evil Dead and Army of Darkness movies, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. Zombie movies. The Conan, Kull, and Red Sonja movies, which were based on the characters by Robert E. Howard, as well as the movie about Howard entitled The Whole Wide World. Oh, and don't forget Bambi, the first movie I ever saw in a theater as a child (I still cry when Bambi's mother gets shot), I even picked up Bambi 2. |
| Favorite music | Lately, I have been obsessed with a band called Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, as well as the previous band some of the core members came from called Idiot Flesh (and Acid Rain before that). I also enjoy listening to Abstrakt Algebra, Krux, Leif Edling's solo album, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Apollyon Sun, Stone Sour, Isis, Lotus Eaters, Old Man Gloom, and Red Sparowes. I am looking forward to Thomas Gabriel Fisher's new band, Triptykon. In general, I love Metal, particularly 80's Metal (NOT 'HAIR' BANDS), Punk, old school Hardcore, and other types of rock and metal. Some of my favorites are Iron Maiden (including solo Paul Dianno and Bruce Dickinson), Slayer, Carnivore/Type O Negative, The Misfits (old and new), Samhain, Danzig, Son of Sam, Metallica (more old than new), Slipknot, Stonesour, Sex Pistols, Ramones, and on and on. I also like some mellower stuff like Led Zeppelin, Queen, and some 60's hippie stuff. CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL ROCKS! On the flip side of the coin, I also listen to Classical music (gotta love Wagner), traditional Celtic music, Native American Flute Music, Meditational stuff, some Pagan and Folk Music, and other stuff some people might consider 'weird'. |
| Favorite books | Favorite authors include Robert E Howard and JRR Tolkien. Clive Barker's Hellbound Heart and Books of Blood. Steven King's Night Shift and Skeleton Crew. Swords and Sorcery/Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Horror for fiction. Pagan or Spiritual stuff otherwise. I enjoy reading Poetry of almost any genre. I love the poetry of Adelaide Crapsey, creator of the American Cinquain poetry form. I have recently gotten into the works of Baudelaire and Rimbaud. I read several fiction and poetry journals in print and online, most recently including Necrotic Tissue, Poetry Magazine, Sentence, Tin House, American Poetry Review, Mastodon Dentist, and others. |
