IntroductionLiving on my own for the first time and preparing to start medical school in August, I found myself increasingly concerned with the foods I eat, the foods I should eat, the foods I shouldn't eat, where these foods come from, and perhaps most important - what are they? Although I am reaaaally interested in food (I mean really, who isn't??), I want to avoid pigeon-holing myself into only writing on one subject. I would get bored...that's definitely not the goal here! Keep up with me as I whine about studying so much my butt hurts from the chair, get excited to put on my white coat and stethoscope, make my highly-anticipated grocery trips (yes, I do look forward to it!), maintain relationships with my wonderful friends and family, and JUST TASTE LIFE! This is all about embracing what you have, enjoying what you do (most of the time), and trying new things!
Favorite booksSome recommended reading: For a light-hearted, sassy intro to the health food genre, check out Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. For a heavier, in-depth look at modern agriculture, Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma offers an objective account of the author's personal experiences as he searches for the origins of our food. As a follow-up to The Omnivore's Dilemma, Pollan offers In Defense of Food, which I haven't yet read but plan to very soon!
